In the study of anatomy and physiology, various body systems are described and studied separately. However, in reality they are interdependent. No system can function in total isolation.

External communication: special senses, verbal and non-verbal communication

Elimination of waste: carbon dioxide, urine and faeces

Protection and survival Protection against external environment: skin

Resistance and immunity: nonspecific and specific defence mechanisms
